Spurgeon Medical-Legal Consulting

Specializing in
Medical-Legal Consulting

Lindsay Spurgeon is the owner and lead nurse consultant of Spurgeon Medical-Legal Consulting (SMLC). With clinical knowledge and experience as a Board-Certified Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, she has the expertise to identify meritorious cases, as well as interpret medical and nursing issues in cases involving health, illness, or injury. While she specializes in maternal, fetal, and neonatal care, Lindsay can also provide you with standards on medical and nursing issues because she is an expert in diagnosis and treatment, unlike registered nurses. This will save you time and money with a medical expert.

One additional unique service Lindsay is excited and passionate about providing is for Nurse Advocacy. Lindsay then became involved in assisting the start-up of an expanding and newly improved Center of Hope for pediatric sexual assault victims through a grant funding program provided to Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis, IN. Marian County Franciscan Alliance trained Lindsay through a vigorous didactic and clinical course to obtain her certification as forensic nurse examiner.

Through this experience Lindsay was offered the opportunity to teach undergraduate nursing at Marian University and was offered to join the St. Vincent Neonatal and Pediatric Critical Care Transport Team as a Board-Certified Neonatal and Pediatric flight nurse, specializing in air and ground transportation. Lindsay found her love in neonatology and graduated in 2020 with her Master of Science in Nursing, Neonatology, from the University of Indianapolis as a Board -Certified Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP-BC). Lindsay currently travels and practices as an NNP-BC in more than four hospitals spanning across the United States.

Lindsay has remained an involved member of many professional organizations and serves as the Co-Chair for a non-profit organization currently operating to achieve grants to aid in the mental health of adolescents affected with depression following the COIVD-19 pandemic. Lindsay also was heavily involved in the American Red Cross, and deployed to serve as a disaster action responder to the devastation of Hurricane Harvey. In 2021, Lindsay was offered a scholarship for the Academy of Neonatal Nursing’s Annual Conference in Honolulu, HI to showcase her literature review and development of an algorithm proposal, “Code Alert HIE: Establishing a Code Alert System That Will Provide Immediate Recognition of Cooling Candidates.” Her work was subsequently published in Neonatal Network July 2021 Issue 4 Volume40.

Lindsay’s passion for helping people expands beyond her nursing practice. For that reason, she decided to become certified as a legal nurse consultant to take her experience from within the hospital and bring it to the court room to help many others she otherwise wouldn’t be able to.
